| Pickles, not cheese, I like cucumbers... I just felt bad 'cause I've
written nothing for a while and have nothign really to write. I'm late
for a meeting. I'm late for meetings a lot lately. I'm going to a
wedding this weekend. Yeah for weddings. Blah for traveling.

| I saw my best friend this weekend for the last time until thanksgiving break (that is if I go home for break) and I was struck with the thought - why are we friends? Which is something I've never really thought about before. I normally don't go around questioning my relationships with people. This thought began when I met her in front of the lake at the camp where she's been counseling and she immediately left me in the care of three 5th graders. Granted, I had a blast talking to the girls about their week and telling them tales of when Rising Sun (aka Mandy) and I were campers. However, I was soon joined by a group of CITs - now Mandy, in a situation like this, would immediately strike up a conversation with them and they'd be laughing and/or talking like old friends very quickly. I, however, am more shy than that and after a few words were exchanged, we sat on some logs and I listened to them talk while we waited for a baptism to start. I got to meet all the people I've heard Mandy talking about all summer in our phone calls (which was awesome) but I was struck again, at times, with the realization that conversation with total strangers for my friend is way easier than it is for me. Granted, opposites attract in friendships and otherwise and I think I've learned a lot for Mandy and I can, when needed, converse with people. I think I'm just one of those people who is naturally quieter and would rather listen in a group of people than contribute. Who knows. I do know, however, that God meant for us to be friends and that he's totally blessed our friendship. I'm not worried.

| New miles total of 700 or so... it'll make it to 1000 by the time I'm
back in Cor-Valley. Dang. That's a lot in three days. Well, it's a good
thing I like driving. Although, my four CDs are getting a little old -
I might have to invest in another one. I love watching the Antique Road
Show - especially the English version. There's nothing cooler than
watching people freak over the learning a family heirloom (or rather
something they found in an attic and were going to throw out) is worth
a huge amount. I learn so much about history from these things. I love
the history that can be found in heirlooms and antiques - maybe that's
why I love going to antique stores and imagining the story behind
different items. Oh, and finding new uses for old items, I love to
do that. There's no reason something should be just sitting there and
collecting dust, it should be used. People have too much stuff - I
think I'm going to purge and only keep what I'm acutally using. Okay,
off to enjoy a dinner of spinach dip (a home specialty) and some more
antique watching. Oh, just in case anyone ever finds one, I'm looking
for a steamer trunk and a secretary desk. | | |
| Here I sit in Silverdale, WA - chillin' at my big Bro's appartment. I have officially driven over 450 miles in less than 24hours (I think it totals to 11 hours in the car). It's a good thing I like driving. Okay, we're off to the Base to pick up his uniforms... | | |
| I now have fish (yippee!!!). Spike, Ducky, and Pytri - maybe I'll get a Sara and Littlefoot to go along with them? I think they need a little more excitement in thier tank though, maybe a sunken ship or a log to swim through - at least a plant or some sort. Who knows... | | |
